About Us

We are four friends that have known each other since college. We enjoy going out in Portland for drinks in the afternoon and thought we would document our findings on the web for others to use.

Victoria Mansion

We have passed by the Victoria Mansion hundreds of times. Always wanted to stop in but were always too busy. This year we were determined to visit and were not disappointed. Tickets are $15.00 per person. Its a self-guided tour so you can wander at your own pace. Plus, there are volunteers around who can answer questions and offer interesting facts. The architecture is beautiful. The entire house was decorated for Christmas with each room decorated in a different theme based on inspiration from a different county and decorated by different local businesses.

One thing that was very interesting were two brass handles above a metal grate on the wall in each bedroom. The volunteer said the one that was chest high rung a bell and sent a servant up to your room. The handle that was knee high rang a bell in the basement that told the person there to send more heat.

The carriage house is now the gift shop. They had lots of Christmas ornaments for the holidays. The staff was friendly and helpful.
